This book serves a dual purpose…it addresses Luca’s “illness” as well as giving the gang a new and different magical puzzle to solve.Cope and Jude are faced with considering whether vampires actually exist after going on one of Salem’s famous ghost walk tours. When the body of a supposed 130 year old vampire comes up missing from his specially encased grave things take a frantic turn.The puzzle and the steps to solve it are intriguing. However the squabbling between a few of the guys is really getting old and annoying. These men are supposedly chosen family and best friends but they fly off the handle, hurl accusations, insult each other and generally act like adolescent boys instead of the seasoned professionals we are supposed to believe they are. It actually seems worse in recent books. I’m not sure why the author feels the need to have them behave this way to each other. It just doesn’t work for me and it is really interfering with my ability to enjoy these books now. Unfortunately it’s the overriding feeling left after reading the book instead of the messages of family, love, sacrifice, etc. that should have stood out. I hope to see a reduction in the juvenile behavior in the next book or I may have to be done with the series. This is such a great series. I love how Jude's and Cope's relationship progresses through each book. All of the other characters they interact with are icing on the cake. This entry in the series was very good and the mystery and suspense were well done. I only had a problem with the relationship with the bad guy and one of the female characters. It was a little confusing regarding the child (don't want to give anything away). Cisco's and Luca's relationship was definitely a bonus, but Cisco was a little over top for being a career police officer. Worry is one thing, but I'm surprised he wasn't able to remain more processional. Nit picks. Read this in one sitting. Wolf was wonderful. Can't wait until the next book, whether this series or the original.
